Vertex Receives Prestigious CEO Award for WRE Cloud Migration project from Wind River Environmental for Outstanding Service

The Challenge

Wind River Environmental faced significant challenges with their outdated legacy application, which was over twenty years old and required technology modernization. The application had become increasingly difficult to maintain, with inefficiencies in creating work orders that took unusually longer than expected. Key issues included:

Maintenance Difficulties: The old technology made updates and maintenance cumbersome.
Inaccurate Data Capture: Text-based fields led to inconsistent and inaccurate job information.
Customer Information Management: Problems with duplicate accounts and difficulty accessing customer information.
Inefficiency: Work order creation was time-consuming and inefficient.

The Vertex Solution

To address these issues, Vertex proposed a comprehensive solution involving a complete rewrite and re-platforming of the application using modern technologies:

Angular and Microsoft .NET Core: For a robust and scalable application.
Azure SQL Server: To handle data management efficiently.
Microsoft Azure Cloud Services: For improved accessibility, scalability, and security.

Key Features and Benefits

The new application introduced several important features and benefits:

Enhanced Search Capabilities: Improved functions for customer and order lookups.
Enhance Data Accuracy: Replaced text fields with drop-down options for accurate data entry.
Guided Wizard: A step-by-step guide for creating accurate quotes and work orders.
Increased Efficiency: Reduced work order creation time by 50%.

These changes resulted in a more efficient process, higher accuracy, and improved customer satisfaction. The new system also made it easier to update and add new services, leading to more accurate billing and accounts management.

Overcoming Challenges

Initially, the Wind River Environmental sales team was apprehensive and reluctant to adopt to the new system. However, through close collaboration and additional training, the team adapted well. Within a short timeframe, their satisfaction with the new application improved significantly, with ratings rising to 9 out of 10.
